Sample swatches: If you're unable to visit us in person we have sample rug swatches (in a number of designs) that we can lend provided you pay postage costs. Swatches are around the size of a large serving platter and weigh @ 350g each. We can therefore get one swatch in an Australia Post 500g Pre-Paid Satchel which costs $6.60 (ie. $13.20 for two satchels - 1 to send / 1 to return). We can get two-to-three swatches in an Australia Post 3kg Pre-Paid Satchel which costs $11.20 (ie. $22.40 for two satchels - 1 to send / 1 to return). If colour matching is important it's sometimes easier if you send us cuttings of furnishing fabrics or paint colour cards so we can make suggestions on rugs you might like.
Size considerations: Typically furniture should be either completely on or completely off a rug for stability, visual balance and to prevent damage to the edges of the rugs. Rugs for under kitchen or dining room tables should extend at least 75cm or 2 ½ ft beyond the table all round so chairs sit evenly on the rug when pulled back from the table. Sizes larger than the 152cm x 244cm or 5ft x 8ft that are normally stocked can be specially ordered. Eg. If your table measures approx. 3ft x 6ft you should consider a rug measuring 8ft x 11ft.
Braided rugs are assembled by hand; this means slight variations in size (2% tolerance). Dyeing is done in small lots so colours may differ from rug to rug – particularly those using variegated yarn. This hand-made look is all part of the charm of braided rugs, and with a little care, braided rugs will serve you well for many years.
Also note that computer monitors affect colour and that there may be some difference between the viewed colours and actual colours.
